Work in progress; long term project researching the UK/ France border & what is often termed by the UK press ‘small boats’ migration.
This work comprises different stories which overlap, clash and sometimes contradict; like the true crisis of complexity on the Côte d'Opale.
The traces left in sand dunes after zodiac dinghies are buried and then dug out to be used in attempts to cross the English Channel. Prayer pieces blown and scattered then glued into the sand. Dog paws crushing them into the wet.
Objects and spaces of aftermath act as evidence and portraits of past presence.
These are both poetic and political, making the landscape a living witness of the history of an event. The traces like vessels containing the hopes and dreams of those trying to make this perilous journey.
